The principal founder was James Dennistoun of Golfhill and he operated the bank until his retirement in 1829.  William Roberts assumed the position of Manager following the retirement of James Dennistoun and he was subequently succeeded by Robert Findlay of Easthill.

In 1836 this bank merged with the Ship Bank to form the Glasgow and Ship Bank.
